These treasure tins are a new addition to my studio; I'm trying to create art out of more found objects not only because they're fun to make, but also because I'm aware of my environmental impact as a glass artist and these are upcycling at it's best. Each tin in this series is a one-of-a-kind item, but the base of each is a standard sized Altoid tin, complete with the embossed logo which can be seen when you open the tin. Altoids tins measure roughly 2.375" wide x 3.75" long, and start out at just under 1" deep, although the clay art and the feet make the height variable.
This tin includes an actual cancelled vintage stamp from the Czech republic that has been safely put under glass. The stamp is accented by both a silvery dichroic glass cabochon - which is made in my glass studio - and vintage glass rhinestones. The paints used to make the metallic effects prefer to be handled with care and kept from getting wet. The feet are made from small clear glass marbles.
