This design came about because I got very bored in a crowded restaurant and started doodling a Celtic knot shamrock on a napkin with my ominpresent Sharpie markers that live on my person. The original design (complete with small ketchup stain) now resides in my sketchbook. The cleaned up second version of this design is what's featured on the emerald green barrette pictured here!
My glass barrettes typically measure between 3 1/2" and 3 3/4" (9 - 10 cm long) and 7/8" to 1" (20mm - 24mm) wide, and all of my barrettes shipped within the US come to you in a gift box.
My barrettes work very well for all hair types. (No, seriously!) Even if you have extremely fine hair, the French-made clasps I use on these barrettes should hold - my own hair is very fine and slippery, and I wear one of my own barrettes nearly every day.
I would recommend against wearing them in the pool or shower, as it can encourage rust growth on the metal clip. Also, while they are fairly durable, (I, in fact chucked one into my ginormous purse and then forgot about it for about two months. It was fine when I finally realized that it was in there...) However, they are made of glass. If you treat them with reckless abandon (and wear them while playing extreme sports on concrete) they *may* break.
Right handed means you’ll have the barrette in your right hand to put it in and the design will orient correctly. Left handed means you’ll have the barrette in your left hand to put it in and the design will orient correctly.
