Handmade from scratch (by me) in my rural Ohio glass and etc. studio, this pretty glass barrette features a chilly blue mix of aqua and cobalt waves, reminiscent of the Aurora Borealis, and the photos are of the exact item for sale. This barrette measures just under 3 3/4” long (9.52 cm) by just over 3/4” wide (1.9 cm), and every barrette ships out from my glass studio in a gift box.
Dichroic glass was originally invented by NASA, but it found its home with glass artists. Dichroic - which means two color in Greek - is a perfect name for this glass, as it has two (or more) colors that show up depending on the angle it’s viewed from. This one is a subtle shift, and photographing it was a pain. However, if you like it online it won't disappoint in person.
- I only use French clips, which stay in hair that’s fine, unlike Chinese barrette backs.
- The metal clip can be prone to rust if you wear it in the shower, so I suggest against it.
- The barrette is glass, so if you are into extreme sports, maybe choose a different accessory while participating.
