These treasure tins are a new addition to my studio; I'm trying to create art out of more found objects not only because they're fun to make, but also because I'm aware of my environmental impact as a glass artist and these are upcycling at it's best. Each tin in this series is a one-of-a-kind item, but the base of each is a standard sized Altoid tin. (They measure roughly 2.375" wide x 3.75" long, and start out at just under 1" deep, although the clay art and the feet make the height variable).
This tin includes a flower containing the seven chakra colors, the center of which is a silver dichroic glass cabochon which is made in my glass studio. Embedded into the clay is a holographic rainbow glitter, and since I used two types of clay on this tin (an epoxy and polymer clay) this should be kept out of extreme environments like summer-hot cars or freezing cold storage.
As an aside, I've been drawing rainbows since I was a little kid - they're kind of my thing - and should you be shopping for an rainbow-affiliated person in your life, please know that one of the charities my business donates to every year is the Trevor Project, a kick-ass charity that provides a hotline for at-risk LGBTQ youth.
