Handmade in my rural Ohio glass etc. studio, this stunner of a barrette is made from anopaque ruby red glass, and it features a butterfly that's Celtic-inspired etched into the surface of it. This particular barrette measures roughly 3 3/4" (10 cm long) and 1 1/4" (3.5 cm) wide, and the photos are of the exact item for sale.
The butterfly (my own design) has traditionally been used in myth and lore to represent personal transformation, or as a reminder to "keep the faith" while going through a transformational period.
All of my barrettes shipped within the US come to you in a small gift box.
Even if you have extremely fine hair, the French-made clasps I use on these barrettes should hold - my own hair is very fine and slippery, and I wear one of my own barrettes with the same style clasp nearly every day. I recommend at least shoulder length hair if your hair is fine and/or straight.
I do not recommend wearing my barrettes in a pool or shower. I also do not recommend playing rugby on concrete or any other extreme contact sport while wearing my barrettes. :)
